Site Safety Health Officer – LH998850122

Sacramento, CA

We have an immediate opportunity for a Site Safety Officer in the Sacramento area. This position requires comprehensive knowledge of day to day field operations for the projects including OSHA and environmental regulations working in a high voltage distribution and transmission environment. The Site Safety Officer serves as the company’s point of contact for safety with owners and subcontractors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Requires the experience, knowledge, and skills in safety to administer, direct and manage compliance with the company safety program and incident prevention efforts
  • Manage new hire safety orientation program and provide ongoing job specific safety training
  • Perform and document job site inspections and audits
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance regarding safety and health requirements
  • Manage all site safety documentation
  • Participate in safety pre-construction meetings
  • Facilitate mass safety meetings and required weekly tailgate safety meetings
  • Compile materials for safety meetings, prepare agendas, and record meeting minutes
  • Support the activities of the local health and safety committee
  • Serve as liaison for worker’s compensation reporting, case management, and recordkeeping and participate in claims management process
  • Effectively manage problem prevention strategies to limit reactionary practice
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Industrial Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a construction related safety environment required, heavy civil/utility and PG&E experience required.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA , state and federal guidelines
  • CSP, CHST, or CUSP certification required 
  • Extensive knowledge of Fall Protection and MUTCH standards, and DOT regulations
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills with the ability to use MS Office with proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Ensures project safety goals and expectations are realistic, achievable, and revisited/revised at appropriate times during the life of the project
  • Travel required throughout California.  
  • Ability to write clear and concise thoughts in a professional manner
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
