Safety Coordinator

Lincoln, CA

The position of the Safety Coordinator is to oversee and enforce all safety measures which involves a vast amount of knowledge of OSHA guidelines and the ability to identify and remove any potential safety hazards.

 
RESPONSIBILITIES

•To provide the advisory support needed to help the Company achieve overall safety success measured by a low Experience Modification Rate (EMR).
•Ensures organization is compliant with all current safety regulations.
•Assist managers, supervisors and employees to work within a positive safety structure.
•Identify and correct potential problems, practices, conditions, policies and procedures.
•Conducts comprehensive safety and hygiene audits.
•Work with the employees to change the environment that leads to unsafe behavior and get employee participation in safety.
•Get the employees to care and buy in.
•Oversee and document all training, accidents, injuries, near-miss accidents, accident investigations, OSHA compliance, hazard identification, evaluation and correction.
•Update and create all safety related documents.
•Monthly safety committee/safety task force meetings inviting various members of the workforce to participate as members for set period of time. Keep records organized and current.
•Plan and coordinate programs and processes to reduce and eliminate injuries and environmental damage in the workplace.
•Prepare and conduct safety training.
•Performs job hazard assessments and recommends measures to control exposures, including substitute of less hazardous materials, personal protective equipment (PPE), work practice changes and engineering controls. Prepare and conduct training safety classes.
•Coordinates emergency response training.

REQUIREMENTS

•4+ years Manufacturing environment experience a must
•High school diploma or GED equivalent, prefer BA or BS Degree
•Analysis and reporting skills
•Strong communication and presentation skills
•Knowledge of state and federal safety laws
•Knowledge of Food Safety Regulations
•Good interpretive and/or reactive skills
•Forklift experience/knowledge a plus
•Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
•Working knowledge of MS office (Excel and Word)
•First aid certification
PHYSICAL DEMAND/ WORK ENVIRONMENT AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

   Slip, trip, and fall hazards, machine pinch points, hot surfaces, head bump hazards, compressed air, fire hazards, automatic
   equipment, forklifts, sharp objects, lifting heavy objects.

    Safety Responsibilities:
•Practice safe and efficient work techniques to minimize potential injuries and hazardous conditions.
•Participate in safety meetings and inspections.
•Ensure that material areas are kept neat and orderly.
•Maintain acceptable levels of housekeeping at all times with regard to equipment and assigned work
area and/or department.
